Geometry in Nature: Starfish and Seagrass Meadows

August 29 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Geometry in Nature: Starfish and Seagrass Meadows
Workshop with Emma Kerridge-Conium

Dive beneath the waves and discover the extraordinary patterns hidden within our marine environments in this creative workshop exploring the geometry of the sea.

Using a drawing compass, you’ll uncover the geometry of 6 and 12 while creating a stunning Common Sunstar Starfish, learning how mathematical patterns can be found throughout the natural world. You’ll then bring your artwork to life with colour and add a personal hope for the future of our oceans and marine ecosystems.

The journey continues as we explore the geometry of 5 to draw a Common Starfish within a thriving seagrass meadow. Along the way, we’ll discover why starfish are considered a keystone species and learn about the vital role seagrass meadows play in supporting biodiversity, storing carbon, and protecting our coastlines.

Combining art, geometry, and environmental education, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of marine life while creating beautiful nature-inspired artwork.

What you’ll discover:
• How geometry shapes marine life and natural forms
• Compass drawing techniques and geometric construction
• Creative colouring and illustration methods
• The importance of starfish and seagrass ecosystems
• How art can inspire a deeper connection with our oceans

🥪 Lunch included
